2012: The Year of the Wedding Part 2

As I previously posted, 2012 was the year of the wedding for the Milfisch household. We have years where we attend more than three weddings, but 2012 had the weddings of some of our favorite people. August brought the wedding of Grant and Megan.  Grant is my long time friend from elementary school.  Our friendship has weathered adolescent immaturity, a twelve hour drive between colleges, and now a five state separation.  Weeks can pass between conversations, but we still connect and stay involved in each others lives. We have more of a sibling relationship.  We can say anything to each other, appropriate or not.

Grant proposed to Megan around Christmas 2011 and they had decided to wait a little while before starting any wedding planning.  Grant never defined how long "a little while" might be. He called me shortly after July 4th to inform me they set the date for the end of August. Well, that's not entirely accurate. He called me and said, "Hey, we are getting married on August 25th, so you better start looking at flights tonight." It wasn't an invitation so much as an expectation.

My husband and I flew back to The Mitten for the wedding.  It was another perfect representation of a couple.  Grant and Megan married in the backyard of Grant's childhood home.  One of Megan's sisters married the couple in front of 40 of their closest family and friends.  A slightly larger crowd attended a beautiful outdoor reception at the same location.  The event was simple, elegant, and fun, just like the couple.  We were so happy to be a part of their day.
